Junk Food includes those food items that do not add any value to a person’s diet. The biggest irony regarding junk food is the fact that it’s mostly prepared out of healthy food. Junk food refers to the food that tastes good but is high in calories having little nutritional value.

Lack of energy - It is the most common effect noticed by excessive intake of junk food. Usually, junk food does not have any kind of essential nutrients. That is why, after having junk food, the human body does not get proper nutrients and suffers from the deficiency of energy. Consuming poor nutrients could be as an addition.

Heart Diseases - A regular intake of junk food can lead to several heart diseases including Myocardial infarction which is a severe heart problem. Cardiologists refer to avoid junk food as these are the major causes of severe heart diseases.

Poor Concentration - It is one of the major ill effects occurred by the regular intake of junk food. This junk food makes an individual feel drowsy and it leads to poor concentration. Over constant periods of having junk food, blood circulation drops due to heavy fat deposition in the inner walls of arteries.



How to Avoid Eating Junk Food ?

1. Keeping a food journal: Write down in a journal what you eat everyday - whether its healthy eating or bad eating, note everything down.If you keep doing this for few days you may realize how bad your eating habits really are and may find a new inner determination to overcome this bad habit at all costs.

2. Developing healthy eating habits early: If we can teach our children to eat healthy foods right from childhood, then they may grow up to become healthy eaters. They may be less prone to eat junk food later on in life. So we may need to pay more attention in teaching them healthy eating habits.

3. Don't buy junk food: Avoid buying junk food while shopping for your monthly or weekly grocery at the store. If you don't buy junk food then it can be easier to stay away from them. Try to keep your fridge free from tons of junk and unhealthy or fattening foods.

4. Educating yourself about junk food: Many people do not fully realize the negative effects of junk food not just for weight loss but also for the health in general. It can become relatively easier for us to stay away from them.

5. Substitute healthy foods for junk foods: Write down the common junk foods you frequently consume like soft drinks, sweets, chips, fried and oily items etc. Next make a list of healthy foods that you can eat instead of the junk items. This list can include carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, fruit and vegetable juices etc.
